What is intramodal dispersion in optical fibres?
Intramodal dispersion (Δτmat)
Intramodal dispersion is nothing although material dispersion. The velocity dissimilarity of the different wavelengths even though they are propagating within similar mode which arises because of wavelength dependence of the refractive index of the material is the cause for intramodal dispersion. Into single mode fibers, it is one of the major contributors to dispersion.
