What is Gymnosperms explain its dividions?

Gymnosperms are one of the two major groups of plants that bear seeds. The other group, the Angiosperms (flowering plants), differ in that their seeds develop within enclosed vessels of tissue called carpels. Gymnosperms, on the other hand, have exposed, or "naked seeds," as the name describes.

There are four divisions of Gymnosperms:

Cycadophyta - cycads, which look somewhat like tree ferns

Gingkophyta - includes only one living species: Gingko

Gnetophyta - includes only 3 living genera, which are uncommon

Coniferophyta conifers, with which we are most familiar - include pines, firs, spruces, hemlocks, and cypresses

This is Sequoia sempervirens - a giant redwood, the tallest living conifer. These gymnosperms grow in the coastal mountains of California, and are threatened by overdevelopment and logging.
