Potential free contacts (also known as "dry contacts") are simply contacts which are physically operated with the main device, but not electrically connected to it. For example a motor contactor often has auxiliary contacts that are operated by the main coil and open and close at the similar time as the main contacts but are not used for control of the motor starter. If they are connected to an outside circuit to shows the status of the starter without being powered by the motor supply they would be considered potential free contacts. These type also called Signal-Contacts.
In case of relays and switches if the common/pole is connected internally to a given potential like a 110V phase etc., the contact is not POTENTIAL FREE but if both the common and the normal open (and at time also the normally closed) contacts are presented to the user for connecting in his system as he pleases, the contact is said to be "potential-free"

In the equal distance method of a deflection magnetometer, the deflections produced by two bar magnets are 30 o and 60 o . Determine the ratio of their magnetic moments?
Constancy principle (A. Einstein): One of the postulates of A. Einstein's special theory of relativity, that puts forth that the speed of light in vacuum is calculated as the
A Rayleigh interferometer (as shown in the figure below) can be used to measure the index of refraction of air. Two transparent tubes (T 1 and T 2 ) are placed behind two slits. O
Q. Define the unit of self inductance. One henry is described as the self-inductance of a coil in which a change in current of one ampere per second produces an opposing emf of
to measure the extension of an experimental wire due to different pulling forces using searle''s apparatues.hence, determine the young modules of the material of the wire.
Magnus effect: In a moving fluid a rotating cylinder drags some of the fluid around with it, in its direction of rotation. This enhances the speed in that region, and therefor
The wheatstone bridge: You have already solved resistor networks using Ohm's law and Kirchoff's laws. In this unit we are going to look at a special arrangement of series and
