What is external interrupt, Computer Engineering

External Interrupt:

Interrupt signal came from input-output devices connected external to processor. These interrupts depend on external conditions that are independent of the program being implemented at the time. The examples that causes external interrupt are - I/0 device requesting transfer of data, elapsed time of an event, power failure.
