What is Electronic Data Interchange?

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI):

It is used by organizations for transactions which arise on regular basis to a pre-found format. Well it is one of the E Commerce technologies. Electronic Data Interchange consists of direct computer-to-computer transmission of data in between different firms.

This is used in number of trade sectors for inter-organization, transactions repeat and regular. Such systems need Electronic Data Interchange-standards, Electronic Data Interchange software, an Electronic Data Interchange network and trading community.
