What is Business process re-engineering?

Business process re-engineering (BPR):

The basic redesign of existing business processes to attain enhancements in critical areas as like cost, speed, service or quality.

BPR knows and analyses existing processes to innovate, so as to rationalise or add value, this aims to reassemble and redesign existing processes to control as effectively and efficiently as probable. Re-engineering business procedures can frequently help an organisation shorten lead-times, enhance customer service or add more value to the service or product being sold.
