What is biotechnology?

The Biotechnology is the application of biological knowledge to obtain new techniques, materials and compounds of pharmaceutical, medical, agrarian, industrial and scientific use that is of practical use.

The pioneer fields of the biotechnology were agriculture and the food industry but nowadays many other practical fields use its techniques.
