What is bicuspid aortic?

Bicuspid aortic valve is the most common form of CHD seen in adults. Isolated bicuspid aortic valves may be stenotic or non-stenotic to start with. The non-stenotic BCAV may remain functionally normal throughout a normal life span to start with. It may become stenotic through fibrocalcific thiclcening or may become regurgitant.

Aortic regurgitation may occur either spontaneously or alter an episode of infective endocarditis.
