What is banker's algorithm?
Banker's algorithm is a deadlock avoidance algorithm that is applicable to a resource-allocation system with multiple instances of each resource type. The two algorithms used for its execution are:
a. Safety algorithm: The algorithm for finding out whether or not a system is in a safe state.
b. Resource-request algorithm: If the resulting resource allocation is safe, the transaction is completed and process Pi is allocated its resources. If the new state is unsafe Pi must wait and the old resource-allocation state is restored.
Homework chapter 10 no 3
The need for three level architecture The aim of the three level architecture is to divide each user's view of the database from the way the database is physically shown.
An entity type usually has an attribute whose values are distinct for every individual entity in the collection. Such an attribute is known as a key attribute and its values can be
Complete replication: It implies maintaining of a whole copy of the database at every site. Thus, the reliability & availability and performance for query response are maximized.
What are temporary tables? Temporary tables exist solely for a particular session or whose data persists for the duration of the transaction.
Describe the difference between a one-to-many and a many-to-many relationship. Which logical data structures comprise one-to-many and which comprise many-to-many relationship?
What is B-Tree? A B-tree eliminates the redundant storage of search-key values .It permits search key values to appear only once.
Question: One of the tasks a database management system must perform is to ensure that the data is still intact in the face of software and hardware failure. This task is known
