What is an INDEX as defined in ORACLE?
Indexes in Oracle - Index is classically a listing of keywords accompanied through the location of information on a subject. Instead, an index can be viewed as an auxiliary table that contains two fields: the key and the location of the record of in which key. Indexes are used to improve the performance of the search operation. Indexes are not strictly essential to running Oracle, they do speed the procedure.
