Assignment Help:

Q. What is a Mixed Number?

Ans.

A mixed number is an integer, along with a fractional part, which has the same sign. (Therefore, a mixed number always has two parts.)

Mixed numbers look like this:

Note: Sometimes mixed numbers are called mixed expressions.

The meaning of this notation is that the whole number and the fractional part are added together. (Keep in mind that the negative sign, if there is one, is shared by the whole part and fractional part!) So, another way of writing our two mixed numbers would be:

Note: This is the alternate form for a mixed number, to show it as the sum of its integer part and its fractional part.
