One patient with bladder cancer, had spent many years working for an engineering company as a fitter. His company had a contract to service and repair the machinery at the dye factory. He therefore had to penetrate the protective barriers and became regularly soaked in the chemicals when doing his work. By an oversight, the company had not provided him, as an outside worker, with the protective clothing and facilities enjoyed by the company's employees, and consequently he was exposed by skin contact to hazardous amount of bladder carcinogens
