Respiratory pigments are molecules present in the blood that bind to oxygen transporting it to the tissues, in vertebrates the respiratory pigment is hemoglobin reddish due to the iron of its composition. Annelids have hemoglobin, chlorocruorin and hemerythrin as respiratory pigments.
