Q. What do you mean by Line Designation Tables?

Development of the Line Designation Tables (LDT's) is carried out in conjunction with the evolution of the P&ID's. Engineering input is from several disciplines (Process, Mechanical and Piping). Definitive responsibilities, including stamping and signing requirements, should be established for each project as part of the Project Execution Plan.

In most instances, the Process Engineer assumes professional responsibility and ownership for the Line Designation Tables.

For small projects and revamp work, the responsibility may be assigned to the Mechanical Lead Engineer.
