What do you mean by drive cache, Computer Engineering

Assignment Help:

Q. What do you mean by Drive Cache?

Disk cache may be a part of RAM sometimes known as soft disk cache which is used to speed up access time on a disk. In latest technologies such memory can be a part of disk drive itself. Such memory is sometimes known as hard disk cache or buffer. These hard disk caches are more effective mainly applicable in multiprogramming machines or in disk file servers however they are costly and as a result are smaller. Approximately all-modern disk drives contain a small amount of internal cache. Cycle time of cache would be about a tenth of main memory cycle time and its cost about 10 times cost per byte of main memory.
