Assignment Help:

Q. What do you mean by Beaux system?

Beaux system: the standard time for a job is determined. Each minute of the allowed time is called a point or B. Thus there are 60 Bs in one hour. Each job has a standard number of Bs. The rate per hour is also determined. Each B represents a point equal to one minute, thus, if the standard time for a job is 10 hours, under this plan, it would be expressed as 600 Bs, the standard Bs of various jobs done by a worker in a week are calculated and compared with the actual time. If the actual time exceeds the standard time the worker gets wages for the actual time worked. Thus the wages on the time wage are guaranteed. If the standard Bs is exceed the actual time the difference is divided by 60 to give hours saved and then three fourths of the wages of the time saved go to the worker concerned and one fourth of the foreman.

Merits of Bedaux system:

1. Minimum wages are guaranteed to the workers, even if they are not able to complete their job within the standard time.

2. Since 25 per cent of the wages for the time saved goes the foreman, he is motivated to get higher productivity from the workers.

3. It is suitable where a worker is expected to perform a number of different jobs.

Demerits of Bedaux system:

1. Calculations are complicated and workers are not able to understand it and it involves heavy clerical expenditure.

2. Workers do not like that the foreman should share their bonus.
