What are the two ways of pile foundation
Pile foundations can be installed in two ways. Timber, steel and precast concrete piles, are driven from the ground using hammers till they reach the firm strata or required depth. Such a method will ensure that the quality of the pile is good as they are prepared under controlled conditions. These are called driven piles. Cast-in-situ driven RCC piles are also in vouge. These are formed by driving steel casing fitted with a dispensive pile shoe fitted to the bottom portion. When the steel casing has been driven to desired depth, steel cage is lowered and concrete is poured and gradually the casing is withdrawn as concreting proceeds. They are of special advantage in offshore and marine construction. When large loads are to be carried and the deplh to which they have to extend comprises of soil having boulders or exhibit refusal strata(N>100), it is necessary to adopt cast-in-situ bored RCC piles.
