Q. What are Mutually Exclusive events?
Mutually Exclusive
Events are mutually exclusive if they cannot occur at the same time. For example, if you roll one die, you cannot roll both 1 and 2. Events A and B are mutually exclusive if their intersection is empty,. This means that they do not share any common elements. Mutually exclusive events can be shown with a Venn diagram:
Property: If A and B are mutually exclusive, then P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B). In words, this means that the probability of A OR B occurring is equal to the probability of A occurring plus the probability of B occurring.
Proof: Using the previous definition for probability, we have:
Since A and B are mutually exclusive, there is no element in A and in B.
In a triangle ABC, D &E is a are points on AB & AC ,if the one side of a triangle is 4cm & another side is 5 cm find that the ar(triangleABC):ar(BCDE)
Complex numbers from the eigenvector and the eigenvalue. Example1 : Solve the following IVP. We first require the eigenvalues and eigenvectors for the given matrix.
How can I solve simultaneous equations?
Arc Length with Polar Coordinates Here we need to move into the applications of integrals and how we do them in terms of polar coordinates. In this part we will look at the a
Function of a Function Suppose y is a function of z, y = f(z) and z is a function of x, z = g(x)
G raph y = sec ( x ) Solution: As with tangent we will have to avoid x's for which cosine is zero (recall that sec x =1/ cos x) Secant will not present at
Evaluate the area and perimeter of a square: Example: Calculate the area and perimeter of a square with a = 5´. Be sure to include units in your answer. Solution:
Perform the denoted operation. (4/6x 2 )-(1/3x 5 )+(5/2x 3 ) Solution For this problem there are coefficients on each of term in the denominator thus
How do you calculate for the distance between two co-ordinates?
Integrate following. ∫ -2 2 4x 4 - x 2 + 1dx Solution In this case the integrand is even & the interval is accurate so, ∫ -2 2 4x 4 - x 2 + 1dx = 2∫ o
