What are distinguishing characteristics of metallic bonding? 

Metallic  state  can  be  visualized  like an  array  of positive  ions,  with  a  common  pool  of electrons to which all the metal atoms have contributed their outer electrons. These electrons have  freedom  to  move  anywhere  within  crystal  and  make  metallic  bonds  no directional.
