Ventilation process of plant, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

Q. Ventilation process of plant?

Due to the possibility of accidental discharges of flammable gas and flashing liquid (e.g. leaks, incorrect valve opening, sampling, etc.); adequate ventilation is a critical safety consideration. Overall SID guidelines include:

• Provision of ventilation where necessary to disperse hazardous vapors and prevent their accumulation in gas traps. Note that enclosed buildings containing ignition sources should be pressurized to prevent entry of flammable gas from the external atmosphere.

• Location of any air intakes in a safe area.

• Completely enclosed structures which house hydrocarbon fuel sources should have an air circulation and exhaust system to replace accumulated vapors with fresh air.

• Provision of space for ducting. Note: Fire and blast walls reduce natural ventilation.
