Uses of Cellulose - biomolecules

(i) Cellulose is used as such in the manufacture of cloth (cotton), canvas and gunny bags (jute) and paper (wood, bamboo, straw, etc.)

(ii) Cellulose is used in the type of cellulose nitrates for the manufacture of explosives (gun-powder), paints, lacquers and medicines. The cellulose nitrates of camphor provide celluloid which is utilized in the making of toys, photographic films and decorative articles.

(iii) Cellulose is used in the form of cellulose acetate for the manufacture of rayon (artificial silk) and plastics.
