In the State of Ames, youths under 18 years of age are deemed to be juveniles. A 17-year-old juvenile and his parents were invited by Ames police to come to headquarters to clear up a robbery that had occurred in the area the night before. While there, the juvenile confessed to the robbery. He was free to leave at all points, and at the end of the interview he and his parents went home. Police continued to investigate, and the next day arrested the 17-year-old. He was transferred to adult court and tried for felony robbery as an adult. The confession will be: a. usable against the defendant in his robbery trial. b. suppressed as a product of an illegal search and seizure under the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. c. suppressed because the juvenile was "in custody" and was entitled to have a lawyer with him, along with his parents
