What is undifferentiated approach for selecting target markets?

Undifferentiated Approach:

In total market or undifferentiated approach, a company develops a particular marketing mix and directs that at the whole market for a single product. It is used when an organization explains the total market for exact product as its target market. As a company using the undifferentiated approach, supposes that individual customers into the target market for an exact type of products how similar requirements. Thus, the firm creates a single marketing mix which this hopes will satisfy most of such customers. Product which can be marketed successfully along with the undifferentiated approach comprise staple food items as like sugar and salt, specific kinds of farm produce and other goods which most customers think of like the same to competing products.

Companies which use the undifferentiated approach frequently try distinguishing their own products by competitor’s product through marketing activities.
