Types of overpopulation - Consumption overpopulation
Consumption overpopulation is a phenomenon seen in technologically advanced and affluent countries such as U.S.A., Japan, West European nations etc. A small number of people are using disproportionately large amounts of resources. This result in resource depletion and environmental degradation at a much higher rate than if more people were using the resources at a lower rate of consumption.
In this type of overpopulation resource use per person and resulting high level of pollution per person are the important factors that determine the environmental impact of population.
