The shoots or plantlets multiplied on a medium containing organic nutrients, show poor photosynthetic capability. Moreover, in these plants mechanisms to prevent loss of water from leaves are poorly developed. Therefore, they require gradual acclimatization to the field conditions. In practice, the plants are maintained under high humidity (80-90%) for 10-15 days after they are removed from culture vessels. During the next few weeks the humidity around the plants is gradually lowered, before they are transferred to naturtil conditions.
