Tie cloth over the end of various lamp chimneys and then fill every one to within 8 cm of the top with dissimilar types of soil. Use sand, clay, loam and soil from the woods. Place dishes under each chimney to catch water which runs by. Next pour measured amounts of water into every chimney unless the water begins to run through. View the soil type into which the most water can be poured without running through.
