Three Sub-Fields of Computer Simulation
Computer simulation is the electronic equivalent of this kind of role playing and it functions to drive synthetic environments and virtual world. Inside the overall task of simulation, there are three primary sub-fields in following figure:
- Model design,
- Model execution and
- Model analysis.

To simulate anything physical, you will first require creating a mathematical model that represents the physical object. Models can take several forms comprising declarative, functional, constraint, spatial or multi-model. A multi-model is a model having multiple integrated models all of that represents a level of granularity for that physical system. The subsequent task, once a model has been developed, that is to execute the model on a computer: i.e. you require creating a computer program that steps through time even as updating the event and state variables in your mathematical model. There are several ways to "step through time". You can, for illustration, leap through time utilizing event scheduling or you can utilize small time increments by using time slicing. You can also perform that is simulate, the program on a massively parallel computer. This is termed as parallel and distributed simulation. For several large-scale models, this is the merely feasible manner of getting answers back in a reasonable amount of time.
