The hydration of propene, Chemistry

Assignment Help:

The hydration of propene

The hydration of propene includes the usual mechanistic steps of alkene protonation to form a carbocation followed by the nucleophilic reaction of water with the carbocation. The structure of isopropyl alcohol follows from the structure of the carbocation. Notice that a secondary carbocation rather than a primary carbocation is included.
