For example, we may want to test whether the percentage of smokers (p1) among the males equals the percentage of female smokers (p2).

We take a sample of n1 men and n2 women. Suppose 2052_test for equality of proportions1.png represents the sample proportion of male smokers and 746_test for equality of proportions2.png the sample proportion of female smokers.
