Explain Temperature Regulation - Physiology of Growth and Development

Surface area of the infant per unit weight is larger than the adult; hence infant loses/gains heat from the surroundings very easily. The temperature regulatory mechanisms are not so well developed as those of an adult. Due to this, the infant needs special care and protection from the extreme environmental conditions.
