Explain Synergistic Contribution of Malnutrition to Child Mortality?

The synergistic contribution of malnutrition to child mortality is consistent across populations and can be estimated at the country level from weight- for-age prevalence data. Analysis shows that the quantitative relationship between malnutrition and mortality is remarkably consistent across various populations representing diverse ecological, disease and cultural environments. The percentage of all malnutrition-related deaths that occur in mildly and moderately malnourished children can also be estimated from weight-for- age prevalence data.
