Smell - Physical characteristics of carbonyl compounds

Along with the exception of lower aldehydes that have unpleasant odours, aldehydes and ketones have usually pleasant smell. Since the size of the atom raise, the odour goes less pungent and much more fragrant. Actually, so many naturally happening aldehydes and ketones have been employed in blending of perfumes and flavouring agents.
