Consider the colonists' failure with their first attempt at a governing structure, the Articles of Confederation. In this short paper, identify one success and one failure of the Articles.

Include in your paper the significance of Shay's Rebellion in relation to the collective successes and failures of the Articles. Could it be argued that geographical growth complicated the effectiveness of the Articles in governing the early republic? Why or why not?
