Assignment Help:

Q. Show the Stresses during pile driving?

Stresses during pile driving

In pile driving operation, proper selection of piling hammers is necessary to prevent the damage of piles. For example a light hammer with higher drop causes a higher impact stress than a heavy hammer with lower drop provided that they produce the same energy per blow.

At the time of driving, piles are continuously subjected to considerable reflected tensile stresses and compressive stresses. Just in case the pile sections are incorrectly aligned, lack of straightness may persuade significant bending stresses being locked in piles at the time of pile driving. Furthermore if obstructions are encountered during pile driving, bending stresses will be induced in piles.
