Q. Show the Impressions at first - Transitional Restorations?

The dental technique will have modified the abutment to the desired shape and will now be able to fabricate the transitional restoration from acrylic directly on the abutment. Such a restoration will fit precisely and will not need re-lining the contours of the restoration, as it emerges from the gingival tissues it may need to be modified in order to create the desired profile.

Manipulating the soft tissues with the transitional restoration if facilitated by the use of acrylic as the material of choice, which can be easily reduced or built up as required. Excessive pressure on the labial aspect will result in gingival recession, whereas judicious interstitial contouring will generate the interdental papillae, providing there is sufficient bone support. This technique enables the porcelain margin of the prosthesis to be positioned sub - gingivally, thus avoiding discoloration of the soft tissues caused by uncovered metal.
