Q. Show the Characteristics of Good Schedules?
All schedules need to have some specific considerations. Timetables are made in such a way so as to choose the most appropriate time pattern for the children, the teachers and the concept that needs to be learnt. For instance activities that involve a lot of physical movement are not organized soon after meals, or outdoor activities are organized when the sun does not shine overhead. Good schedules keep in mind the following aspects:
They cater to the physical needs of the children (toilet, hunger, state of tiredness etc.)
They provide a balance between physically active time and restful activities, like running outdoor games and quiet language reading.
The balance is between indoor/outdoor activities; group/individual times; child selected/teacher determined activities.
Flexibility under unexpected circumstances, like death of a relative, torrential rain festivals etc.
Special plans for field trips, class celebrations of festivals of each community etc.
Allowing for time for "winding up" straightening of the room, provide for an orientation for the next day, and evaluation of activities.
