Short-Term Measures for Technical Loss Reduction

The short-term measures involve measures needs for immediate improvement and reduction of losses within the system. These are based upon the information / data readily available along with the utilities. The works proposed under this plan should be based on the sample studies/statistical check/scrutiny of the existing system details.

Short-term Measures for Technical Loss Reduction

  1. Network Reconfiguration
  2. Network Reconductoring
  3. Preventing Leakages at Insulators
  4. Employing AVB (Automatic Voltage Booster)
  5. Distribution Transformers will managed better
  6. Load Balancing and Load Management
  7. Capacitor Installation (Series or Shunt)
  8. Improving Joints and Connections
  9. Laying Additional Link Lines
  10. Increase in HT:LT Ratio
  11. The High Voltage Distribution System Adoption (HVDS)
  12. Daily Maintenance of Distribution Network
  13. Creation of Primary Substation

A combination of one or more of the above measures would have to be taken to bring the losses down to acceptable levels.
