A server applications refers to network-connected computer applications or "appliance hardware" that offer specific, devoted applications to a network. Such appliances are predictable to work out-of-the-box with little customization and sometimes stay the sole possessions of the company that formed them. The simplest appliances include switches, routers, gateways, and print servers.
