Role of Bile in Digestion
Bile is produced by liver and stored in gall bladder. During digestion, the gall bladder contracts and supplies bile, rapidly to the duodenum through the common bile duct. As compared to the bile produced by liver (hepatic bile), the bile stored in gall bladder is more concentrated (since water is absorbed during the storage period indthe gall bladder) and high in bile salts, cholesterol an% pigments. Bile acids are cholic acid and deoxycholic acid and salt of these acids with glycine and taurine are known as bile salts.
