Review of career plans: career plans, emerging out of career planning exercise, have long term orientation. A career plan is developed based on assumptions about how the environment relevant of human resource management will behave in future. However, whatever the techniques for forecasting (human resource management) HRM environment are used, such a forecast may not always match with the actual environment happenings. With the result, the career plans may not always disturbed. Therefore, there must be in built system of receiving the career plans is necessary to know whether the career plans are contributing to will also enable the employees to know in which direction the organization is moving, what changes are likely to take place, and what skills are needed to adapt to the organizational needs. In receiving the career planning, the following questions may be asked:
a. Are the projected human resource needs and availability relevant?
b. Are the job classifications and descriptions valid?
c. Are career development programmes effective in the new situation?
d. Are the career paths set of different categories of employees working effectively?
Answers of all these questions will indicate what kind of changes should be made in the existing career plans. Thus, review of the career plans may induce those responsible for the career planning to take a fresh realistic view of career planning?
