What would be the result of management project to prevent the development of false expectations?

Into the initiation phase, the project management partners enter a temporary contracts or relationship along with each other. To avert the development of false expectations relating the results of the project, this makes sense to explicitly agree onto the type of project which is being started by:

1. A research and development project;

2. A project which will deliver a prototype or proof of concept;

3. A project which will deliver a working product.
