Assignment Help:

Q. Qualifications of Welding Procedures?

The Fabricator shall prepare and submit for review by Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), as registered with the Authority having jurisdiction. WPS and PQR documents shall cover the complete range of materials and attachments to be joined by welding as required by the equipment design and fabrication, position, wall thickness, heat treatment and welding process. The PQR shall demonstrate that welds meet the required mechanical properties. For alloy materials (P3) and higher, the PQR shall also demonstrate that the required chemical properties are met.

Material classification (P number and group number) shall be as defined within ASME Section IX as well as the Codes. Each material classification or combination of classifications shall require separate qualifications.

Materials without classification shall not be acceptable.

Notwithstanding classification within the same P number, WorleyParsons Canada reserves the right to retest any procedure qualified on materials that is not sufficiently similar to that in production.

Weldment subject to single or multiple heat treatment during manufacture and subsequent assembly shall require qualification duplicating the heat treatment cycle.

Where notch toughness is required for base metal, impact tests shall be performed for welding procedure qualification in weld, base metal and HAZ.
