Properties of allyl iodide - hydrocarbon, Chemistry

Assignment Help:

Properties of Allyl iodide or 3-iodopropene-1, ICH2CH = CH2

Allyl iodide is a colourless liquid. It get boils at 103.1°C.The halogen atom in allyl iodide is fairly reactive. The p-orbital of the halogen molecules does not interact along with ?-molecular orbital of the double bond as these are separated by saturated sp3-hybridized carbon molecules. So, the halogen molecules in allyl halides can be simply replaced and the reactions of allyl halides are identical to the reaction of alkyl halides.
