Properties of Allyl iodide or 3-iodopropene-1, ICH2CH = CH2
Allyl iodide is a colourless liquid. It get boils at 103.1°C.The halogen atom in allyl iodide is fairly reactive. The p-orbital of the halogen molecules does not interact along with ?-molecular orbital of the double bond as these are separated by saturated sp3-hybridized carbon molecules. So, the halogen molecules in allyl halides can be simply replaced and the reactions of allyl halides are identical to the reaction of alkyl halides.
The electron pair which forms a bond between two similar non-metallic atoms will be: (1) Dissimilar shared between the two (2) By complete transfer from one atom to other
For a given value of quantum number l , the number of allowed values of is given by: (1) l+2 (2) 2l+2 (3) 2l+ 1 (4)
