Having given the guidelines in the form of design specifications the designer should be given a free hand in developing the preliminary design of the product. However it during the process of design it is felt by the designer that a particular feature or characteristic cannot be achieved within the existing frame work of the design specification or other constraints the fact should be brought to the management.
