Pre-requisites of counsellor, Biology

You have to do counselling of a diabetic patient and the family members when you are working in a diabetic clinic or community setting in health center. To be an effective counsellor it is important for you have various pre-requisites, skills of developing interpersonal relationship and attitude of supportive behaviour towards diabetic patient and the family members.

Pre-requisites of counsellor are:

1. Have self respect and confidence.

2. Develop interpersonal relationship with the patient and family.

3. Help people with genuine concern.

4. Sensitive to their culture and values.

5. Good in communication.

6. Accept people as an individual, with non-judgmental attitude.

7. Maintain confidentiality and is trustworthy.
