Pisciculture: This is the culturing of fishes. There is a principal form of aquaculture called Fish farming, while other methods can come under mariculture. Fish farming main aim is to raising fish commercially in tanks & in enclosures, generally for food. A facility is given to those releases young juvenile fish into the wild for recreational fishing or to supplement a new species natural numbers of fishes is commonly referred to as a fish hatchery. The most common fish species that are use by fish farms are carp, salmon, European seabass, tilapia, cod or catfish.

Now a day, there is an increasing demand for fish or fish protein, and the result is widespread overfishing in wild fisheries. Fish farming or pisiculture offers a fish marketers another source. However, the farming of carnivorous fish, like as salmon, does not always reduce pressure on wild fisheries, since carnivorous farmed fish are generally fed from fishmeal or fish oil that is extracted from wild forage fish. That is why, the salmon fish can consume in weight more wild fish than they weight themselves.
