Physical Properties of Oxalic Acid

(a) Oxalic Acid is a colourless crystalline solid. It contains two molecules of water as water of crystallisation.

(b) The hydrated form has the melting point 101.5°C whereas the anhydrous form melts at 190°C.

(c) Oxalic Acid is soluble in water and alcohol but insoluble in ether.

(d) Oxalic Acid is poisonous in nature. It affects the central nervous system.
