Physical properties of halo arenes, Chemistry

Assignment Help:

Physical properties of Halo-arenes

(i) Physical state: they are colourless liquid or crystalline solid.

(ii) Solubility: Halo-arenes are not soluble with water, but dissolve readily in organic solvents. Insolubility is caused by inability to form hydrogen bonding in water. Ortho isomer is more soluble as compared to Para isomer.

(iii) It has more density than water.

(iv) Boiling Point of it follow the trend.

Iodo arene > Bromo arene > Chloro arene
