Parts of dc machine, Physics

Assignment Help:

Dc machine consists of the following parts:

Field system: The object of the field system is to make a uniform magnetic field, within  which the armature rotates. It having of four parts- yoke, pole core, pole shoe and field -coils.

Armature core:   It houses the armature conductors or coils and causes them to rotate and as cuts the magnetic flux of field magnets

Commutator: The commutator is a type of rotating switch placed among the armature and external circuit and so arranged that it will reverse the link with the external circuit at the instant of every reversal of current in the armature.

Brushes and Brush gears: The function of brushes is to collect current from the commutator and supply it to the external load circuit. The brushes might be of carbon, graphite, copper, metal graphite, carbon graphite
