Ocean thermal energy, Biology

Assignment Help:

The oceans and absorb solar radiations. There exit a temperature difference between surface and deep ocean water. Ocean thermal energy conversion plants convert the solar energy stored as heat into electrical energy by making use of temperature difference. This process is based on thermodynamic principle.

Advantages:

1.   It is renewable source of energy.

2.   OTEC (ocean thermal energy conversion) power plants can be placed off shore on floating platform. They do not need to be built on land.

Disadvantages:

1.         OTEC plant in very expensive to build.

2.         To this technology is very new and needs more research.
